PS... Esme, Thomas Ulsrud is even cuter in person....
After saying bye to some of my fav volunteers, I left to head out to White Rock to meet up with my friend Lili...(who lives in Seattle). Marion being the superstar host, had wine and snacks ready for us.... then it was off to Vancouver to see the Men's hockey bronze medal game...
We eached picked a team...I was Finland and Lili was Slovakia...

No pressure Eddie, but I told them you're coming in 2022!
An exciting win for Finland!!!
Then we headed off to join the crowds in Robson Square for the fireworks and light show....
Most days are a good day to be Canadian...but some times, you can't even put it into words how great it is!!! Go Canada Go!!!
Sunday morning, we were up early so that Lili and I could head into Vancouver for the Men's Hockey Gold Medal game...
(no, we did not have tickets but we wanted to make sure we had a good seat in a pub) It turns out that the lineups started at 7am...but we lucked out with the last two seats on the patio of Capones in Yaletown...(I have fond memories of Capones and Brenda not being able to read the bill so she tipped $45 one night...lol)
It was kind of cool watching the game with my American buddy... (Well, at least some of the time it was)
Lili and I each had our respective flags and when either team scored, we had to run around the bar and in the street waving the other team's flag... I thought it was fun until people started throwing food at me!!!
There were some tense moments in the game...in fact, the silence was deafening when the USA scored in the last minute of play!! As most of you know...except for some of my friends off in remote places of the world like Mauritus or if the TV is not carrying it in Trinidad... Canada won gold in overtime and the streets of Vancouver exploded with Red and White!!!
Then something really cool happened... My crazy American friend walked proudly with her flag and all kinds of Canadians came up to hug her, thank her, and tell her "good game" (like she actually played or something?) It was pretty amazing to see. (but before you get too gushy, there were also a few bad apples that shouted "Go Home USA!!!)
So this ends my absolutely amazing Olympic Experience!! Well worth the seven year wait! Thanks to all of you who made this one for the record books...Marion, Hani, Ally, Annika, Danielle, Channel M, Sylvia, Lili, Steve (and Brian) and all of the wonderful volunteers I met along the way...
