Day 1

Woke at 4:15 am to catch early morning flight. (better get used to it as my bus leaves at 4:09am to make it to my 6am volunteer shifts!)

Got to airport at 5:45am for my 7:30 flight...way too early! Then the flight was delayed until 8:15am. How come this never happens when I have my sister chasing me through an airport?

Missed connecting flight in Calgary. Took photo of random Dutch long speed skater. (might be worth something if he wins!)



Met some of the Canadian men’s bobsledders...Then sat in my seat and read all about one of them in Macleans, Lascelles Brown. He was originally on the infamous Jamaican bobsled team, became a Canadian citizen weeks before the last Olympics and won a silver medal... Man does he have some pipes!!

And I haven’t even got to Vancouver yet!!

Day 1, Part Two... So we pulled Ally and Annika out of school and headed off to downtown Vancouver... First stop... The Bay Olympic Store for some shopping...then off to pick up tickets!

Then the highlight of the day... The dress rehersal for the Opening Ceremonies!!

Bet you thought we would have sneek photos..but we have been sworn to secrecy about the Opening Ceremonies...so all we can say is make sure to watch on Friday!!

One of the things they didn't tell us was about the final torch bearer..and in fact, the cauldron is not even in BC Place...yet?? My guess is that it will be Wayne Gretzky...but there's rumors it might be Terry Fox's parents...I guess we'll all know on Friday!
